A piece of fabric from the wing of the Wright Brothers’ first airplane that Neil Armstrong took with him on the 1969 space mission is now on display at the museum. The information that Haise supplied about the card reads: This one inch square of Mylar encased in Lucite, would have been created by NASA as mementos for VIPs and people who worked on the mission. It’s made of aluminum and measures 14 inches by 6 inches. We did not have to use this card but did have to deal with a much more complicated abort case on Apollo 13. The last sections cover Earth re-entry procedures in the event that that the flight remained in Earth orbit and did not travel to the moon.
