It begins on boxing day, leading up to new year and flashes back to new years in the past so you get a real feel for each of the characters. I enjoyed reading One Minute to Midnight. midnight. I can't for the next book in this series to appear! I was rapidly disabused of this notion and soon got completely sucked in to Nicole's story; although it probably helped that I was reading it over the New Year period and, as the title suggests, this book is very firmly set around the New Year - taking us from a teenage Nicole in 1990 to a present day (2011) one via the medium of how she spen.

As it was, I picked it up last week and thought I'd give it a whirl, just wish I'd read it sooner. There was a problem loading your book clubs. There is also an entertaining short story by Chuck Gannon set in the 4HU Universe after the end of the story. This was a fantastic story! One Minute to Midnight is an absolutely inspiring book and has already impacted my spiritual life for the better Jennifer Anderson , Technical Supervisor This is another great book within the 4HU and IMO one of the best out there. Amy Silver is a very talented author. At this time of year you only have to walk into a bookshop to see the abundance of Christmas books that are released during the build up to Christmas and so what first struck me about One Minute to Midnight is that this is a book about New Year. Oh my god. Frustrating and a bit contradictory.
Fun read. They are back for round 2. It's a pity the book has such a tacky cover, it deserves better! Safe to say I REALLY enjoyed this book. The bonus story was interesting as it shows things to come and some of the behind the scenes goings on in the intelegence field. Spaced out between decades, it tells the story of Nicole Blake and all the moments leading up to New Years Day, starting with an adolescent Nic and her present-day life in London, where her past still keeps a hold on her life. What I love most about Amy Silver's books is that the characters and situations they are in are believable and real. Do you believe that this item violates a copyright? A Minute to Midnight is the gripping follow up to Long Road to Mercy featuring Special Agent Atlee Pine from one of the world’s most favourite thriller writers, David Baldacci. Ok, I love the developing story of the 4 HU. Most of the story revolves around key events that have defined Nicole since her early teens, all coincidentally right around New Years Eve outings since that night.
